Impacting Lives, Searching for a Cure
At Sam’s Search our mission is to impact lives while searching for a cure. We continue to support JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) while impacting lives affected by type 1 (juvenile) diabetes.
We are continually searching for families, newly diagnosed or old, where a child in the family is living with type 1 diabetes. We are focusing on low-income families that are not afforded the newer technology that makes managing diabetes easier. When we find those families we work them financially to obtain insulin pumps, CGMs (continual glucose monitors) and other advances that are financially out of reach. Additionally, we have and will continue to assist those families pursuing the ownership of DADs (diabetic alert dogs). These dogs cost in excess of $15,000 and we are unaware of any insurance that takes on any of the cost. These service dogs are not for every family, but we want to help those families that can use these dogs to lessen the burden of managing their child’s diabetes.
Finally, we give generously to JDRF to continue their research for a cure for type 1 diabetes. We started Sam’s Search with this as our sole mission but thanks to the generosity of our community we were able to expand and do more for families, directly.
